We have had some memorable days with part of our family over the past 2 weeks. These are some of the things I learned.

You can actually find ripe strawberries when there are no little hands around!
A teenage girl will play with 4 year olds and act like she is having a good time.
They have added a new color to the rainbow.
The look on kids faces as they drive their own decorated float through their own parade is priceless.
Keith still makes a great potato salad.
I am "very old" because I am a "grandmother".
Kids can still be entertained on a trampoline.
Teenage boys can be gentle, caring and have fun with kids under 6.
Teenage boys can still play hide and seek.
Mike and Scott are great BBQ chefs.
Glueing and decorating with two 2 year olds, three 4 years olds, a 6 year old, 2 grandma's, and 3 mothers is hectic but worth it in the end!
We still enjoy the fireworks.
Some Grandma's are "white".
Joyce, Cathi, Carma, Rebecca and Amanda still make us laugh.
No matter how long you keep kids in quiet time, in front of the TV, watching Penguins, on a Sunday afternoon, in hopes of them falling asleep, the adults still fall asleep and the kids never do!
The kids enjoy their great grandma as much as they ever did.
Four girls in the tub at the end of a day make for some really dirty water.
A triple batch of Navajo Taco dough is just right.
One little girl likes as many fresh peas from the pod as she can get.
In Porter's mind he can do anything a 6 year old can.
A baby cannot smile too much.
Eating outside is the only way to go.
You can only stack so much in a fridge.
If you bake, they will eat it.
Skunks are a hot topic.
It was a great thing for all the kids to get together and get to know eacher.

Thanks everyone for all the help while we were all together. It was fun. Hope we can do it again sometime.

Amazing Holiday Week-end!

I think we should all write in our journals that Memorial Day Week-end - 2009 had very little rain, no snow and very warm weather. It was amazing but it sure made for a great week-end. We left on Thursday and came back Monday morning. We had fun riding the 4 wheelers, eating and visiting. Porter and I had a great time playing with a few different kind of balls. He likes to play his version of kick ball. We cooked real french fries, waffles and donuts. Aaron cooked a turkey in the dutch oven. It was the best. We might have to talk him into cooking another one during the 4th. It did rain a few times on Sunday but luckily we can all fit into our trailer so that is what we did to play games and then to eat. It is good Reed couldn't be here cause he would have been disappointed that there was no snow.

Of course it was come home and park the trailer and then I jumped in the shower and headed to work. But the maid took care of all the other things that needed to be done. Glad thing cause I have worked until 7:30 every night this week.

Next week we will head to Nevada on Thursday for Zack's graduation. Garrett will be graduating from Kindergarten on Wednesday morning but I can't get away from work until Thursday. Next year Chris and Laura will have a 1st grader in elementary school and a first grader in college.

Got my flowers all planted last night. Got the last bed weeded this morning. Hooray! Now I can just sit down and enjoy - ya right!!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Nevada. After we get home we will be looking forward to seeing the Bell family for the fourth. Wow, summer goes by way to fast.

Just in case anyone is wondering, Clint had his surgery on Tuesday. He is doing really great, getting bored just watching TV. It is good that we are having snow, makes him stay inside. Biopsies are back, everything was normal.

Great Trip

We had a really great trip to Winnemucca this week end. It started at 4 AM on Saturday morning. Wow, that is early for me! But Porter is tired enough he can sleep for a few hours, makes the trip faster for him. I'll do 0 dark 30 for Porter.

We had a great time with everyone on Saturday. We actually got a family picture that evening and they even turned out good!

Sunday morning was Layla's blessing. She had a very pretty dress. She still seems so tiny. She is very snuggly and so sweet.

Garrett got to spend some alone time with us for lunch and ice cream before we headed to Chris and Laura's for the afternoon and dinner for all of us at their house Sunday evening. We got to play trains and play in the sand hauling dirt, building a mountain and then a road. It was 68 degrees. It felt great.

We also got to see Laura's step grandson. He is just a week younger than Layla. He has a full head of black hair. It is always fascinating to me to see babies with lots of hair, especially since mine had very little.

Aunt Laura was so nice and provided picnic supplies for a picnic basket and Macy and Grandma got to have a pretend picnic in the family room. She pretend made a "delicious" chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream and chocolate candy bars for our dessert. That is my kind of dessert!

Porter had a great time playing with the other kids. It is so much fun to see all the kids together.

Zack got to be with us on Saturday and part of the afternoon on Sunday. He had to go to work on Sunday evening. Zack went to surgery today, waiting to see how that turned out.

I'm sure Chris and Laura sighed a big sigh of relief Sunday evening when we took our noisy bunch and left.

It was back on the road at 4 Monday morning and of course back to work this morning.

What a great day! We had more snow with wind and drifting to go along with it. Hey, if it is going to be February let's go for more snow:)

Hurray for Clint, he finished his sugar beet hauling job at 5:00 AM Sunday morning. It is good to have him back home at night. Now on to looking for another job.

And, Happy Birthday to Macy who is 4 today!

What a fun week I had in Winnemucca!

I had a great time with Garrett. He and I got to play with his marble towers for at least 6 hours. You all ought to get a chance to do that, makes you really love quiet when you are done! Of course we also played with Thomas. With Garrett everything is as close to real life as he can get it. If you don't know the correct verbage when you are talking trains he will educate you really fast! Garrett (kindergarten) held hands with a girl (2nd grader)as he walked her into school on Thursday morning. She asked him if he would date her and he said yes!!

Zack worked most of the time I was at their house but I got to see him for a while. He is starting some online college classes. That will be a great $ savings for him plus he will have a jump start on things before he ever graduates from High School. Way to go Zack.

Chris and Laura fed me well. I always love to sit and visit with them. I enjoyed the time I got to spend at their house. They introduced me to these grilling bags that are wonderful.

Well, the main reason for me going and leaving everyone else at home was of course to hold baby Layla. What a doll and sweetheart she is. She has dark hair, that is a surprise. Her fingers look long and thin right now. And I can't believe how tiny she is. Of course that is just because I forget how tiny babies really are. Also, my own were never that small! She is such a good baby. It also amazed me at how much she changed each day.

Macy was so much fun to play with. Her imagination and her make believe play will always crack me up. She is so animated at everything. We played princess every day. Of course we each had a Barbie doll or something similar. The princess time I loved the most was when we were 2 princess sisters. Macy's princess was going to a wedding. I ask her who was getting married and she said she was. We had to pretend to shop for a wedding dress etc. then she went to the castel to the wedding. She walked her doll about 8" and then turned and came back. I ask her why she left the wedding. She said she got there and "my prince charming was dancing with another girl". I ask her what she was going to do. She said, "I guess I'll just have to marry him next week!" On the last afternoon that I was there I even had to dance like a fairy with her. Roxanna ask if I wanted her to video it. It was a good thing she was feeding Layla and was not able too.

Roxanna seems to be doing very well. She is tired from interrupted sleep but we all know that just goes with the situation. She is a good Mom. Justin does great to keep up with everything, not sure how he does it on the little bit of sleep he gets.

My travel time was great! I listened to talk tapes all the way down and back. I had picked up some tapes quite a few years ago at Deseret Book. I thought it was a great deal, they were only $1. I had never opened them so I got them out to take with me. I now know why they were only $1. Two of the cassettes were by S Dilworth Young but when I played them one was Matthew Cowley and the other one I have no idea who it was. Both of them had great stories on them but when each story got close to the end they switched to another person and a new story! Well, 3/4 of each story was really good and I could figure out the ending in all but one. A couple of them got these very loud thumping noises occasionally. Oh well, I was entertained.

I loved the week - looking forward to the next time I get to do that!

I just have to say we are proud and excited to have baby Layla join our family. And this Grandma will be glad to make the trip down this week end so I can do a little spoiling!

We've had plenty of fog and plenty of cold during the past week. It was good to get up today to clear skies and sunshine. It was actually about 30 degrees today. Not bad if you were inside looking out the window!

Back Home

I'm back! Atlanta was shirt sleeve weather when I left, much to warm for me. It felt good to get into the cold truck that had been sitting at the airport for the week.

Wish the market would have had some really cool, great exciting thing I could tell you about but it just wasn't there. The Christmas vendors were boring with their repeat of so much of last year. Yes, there were a few new things but nothing to write about. We spent hours looking for something new and different, what a waste of time. It is hard to spend $50000 when you can't find anything exciting. The gift floors were also kind of Ho Hum. Waiting for the MARTA train to go to the airport confirmed how I saw it. The buzz from those who had been to market echoed my thoughts. But I did get what I went for, was unable to spend all of the money but will work on that during the next few months with a few vendors I can trust over the phone.

On Saturday morning we spent 3 hours walking through the temporary floors. Those are vendors who have not yet been able to rent a showroom so they come for 3 days of market and set up temporary booths on a floor where they can just set up tables. They have cash and carry jewelry there. About 100 different vendors at the least. After a while it gets very boring but it was fun to walk the jewelry for a while and pick up a couple of things for myself. I also like to walk the candy temps and taste their samples! When you are on those floors you can look up and see the apparel floors. I won't even go up there. Too many hundreds of shops, to overwhelming for me after spending the week shopping for Christmas and some spring decor.

But I am glad, (don't swear Roxanna) that Layla Bree didn't decide to come while I was gone! However, it will be okay if she wants to come any day now.

Travelin' Again

I'm heading to Atlanta tomorrow. Shop, shop, shop! If you are ever curious as to where I am going, look up America's Mart on line. That is where I will be. The bad news is - it is all for the store. The good news is - my checking account will look great when I get back and I won't have all this stuff to put away or wonder why I bought it! Just in case your wonder'n - I am buying for Christmas '09 and also some "fun" gardening decor for spring.

Roxanna, don't do any curb walking while I am gone! If you wonder what that is check with Roxanna.

I was just thinking how much I love the 4th of July!The 4th of July is one of my most favorite Holidays to spend with my family! I have lots of memories of this great Holiday! I sure miss living close to family to be able to share this Great Holiday with them!

Going to the Fireworks at the Greenbelt in Idaho Falls! It doesnt matter where we would sit every year they were great! I do remeber the year that we sat on the lawn at one of the INEL buildings and the sprinkles came on! It was quiet funny watching everyone jump off their blankets, hurry and grab all of their stuff and run off the lawn
Going to Alpine, Wyoming to buy fireworks

Playing with smoke bombs, glow worms and snap pops during the day of the 4th of july! It always seemed like that day lasted forever until we would be able to go to the fireworks!

Lighting off fireworks with my brothers up at the canal and watching them explode and spin in the water!

Getting a kick out of watching My dad, My brothers and Tony lite firworks in the back yard, They would lite bottle rockets and stick them in and old glass coke bottle, wich gave them more force to go higher in the sky!

Iam sure there are alot more that I cannot think of right now! Thank you to my Great family for helping create these wonderful memories for me!

Just Wanted to add another scrapbook page

Porter hates his Paci now but has replaced it with his fingers. Any two will do (or three or four). Sometimes
he even tries a couple of fingers from each hand at the same time.

A little story . . . . .
The other day I and Porter were watching cousin Carson while my sister went to town with my mom. The two boys were playing happily together on the floor, so I grabbed the camera to get a couple of pictures aren't they so cute!!! Then all of the sudden Porter burst out crying. I put down the camera and picked him up, and he stopped crying. A little while later I was looking at the pictures I took and think I figured out the cause of all the tears

"Ouch Cuz! Those teeth are sharp!" Poor little toes!!Speaking of teeth Porter got his first one yesterday so watch out Carson!

Memorial Day Camping trip

We had an unwelcome camp visitor on memorial Day he was not very shy and would come within about 3 feet of us. There was no smell just him rustling threw the brush to different parts of the camp site, where he would emerge and eat what ever tasty morsel he could find. One fact that we learned Skunks love bacon and they really love bacon if it has been badly burned by a cook that will remain name less.

As always we tested our fishing skills below the dam. Dad caught his share of rocks, Aaron had a couple on and lost them, however Scott successfully landed 2 trash fish. Boy was he proud.

Mom has requested that I inform everyone that dad did catch a trout up by the boat ramp, Mom promptly ate it, I think it was to destroy the evidence that dad actually caught one.

They even found me the other day in the bathroom with the salt shaker and i was dumping salt into my mouth yummo!
